Wednesday of the 2 nd Week of Advent
Readings: Is 40:25-31/Mt 11:28-30 (183)
Jeremiah Chavarria: Senior
In today's Gospel, Jesus tells the crowds that all those who labor and are burdened
to come to him and that he will give them rest. He tells the people to take his yoke
upon them and to learn from him. He also tells the crowd that he is meek and
humble of heart and that we will find rest for ourselves in him alone. What Jesus
means here is that taking on his yoke upon us means that we humans need to do his
will all the time. We also need to allow Jesus to guide and direct our lives.
However, we need to willingly let Jesus be our guide. Jesus claims that his heart is
filled with goodness and kindness which we know is true. Therefore, Jesus calls all
of us to go to him so we can find rest from all that we suffered from during our
mortal lives. This is very true for us this Advent season. No matter the labor, no
matter the burden we face, Jesus calls us to himself and to be with him. For this is
the rest he wants us to find for ourselves.
