Reading: Is 11:1-10/Lk 10:21-24
The reading consists of a most hopeful message to all in its hearing. The reading consists of the
description of the Last Day. On that day, there will be a man who judges with complete and utter
righteousness. Those judged will be judged in perfect justice. This man is endowed with the
Holy Spirit and its gifts. After he judges, there will be harmony in the world and natural order,
upturned. This is a message of hope for us. We worry so much as to what pertains to today, or
that will come tomorrow that we can look past and forget what will ultimately happen. Whether
or not our goals are achieved, one thing is certain, on the last day we will be raised up and judged
by God. Then, we will get to see the world in peace, and we ourselves can enjoy a world in
which we need not fear or ponder the woes of our hearts. We as people face the tribulations and
troubles of life everyday, and this message can act as a sort of comfort to it all, knowing that we
can see true and complete peace in our lives one day, even if it should be after our earthly one
has expired. Thus, we may worry about our lives today, but we can find comfort in the peace to
come in God’s world one day.
